Powerboat Direct Assessment
Already have strong powerboating experience and just need your license? The one-day Powerboat Direct Assessment allows experienced drivers to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge and practical skills without completing the full course. Our qualified instructors will assess both on-water handling and essential theory.
If you do not meet the required standard during the assessment, you can upgrade to the full Powerboat course by paying the difference.

Trip Itinerary & Schedule
Meet your powerboat assessor at the SeaOman office and run through the following
Practical assessment - You will be asked to perform a range of exercises on the water, including:
- Launching and recovering the boat
- Boat handling in various conditions, including confined spaces
- Maneuvering at different speeds
- Securing to a buoy
- Anchoring
- Leaving and coming alongside a dock
- Man overboard recovery
Theory assessment - Your knowledge will be checked on the following:
- Collision regulations (IRPCS)
- Basic navigation and chart reading
- Tidal awareness and weather forecasting
- General boat knowledge
